A Little About Me
I began quilting in the summer of 1994. I spent the summer at school that year, and visited an Amish village. I fell in love with the quilts on the spot. I came home, bought what fabric I could afford, and even cut up a shirt to work on my very first quilt. I was in college and completely broke, so for many years, my quilts were hand pieced and hand quilted.
Although my start was rooted in traditional quilt making, it did not take long for me to branch out and try my hand at dyeing my own fabric and doing my own thing. My quilts fell more and more into the modern quilt category long before I knew that was a real genre. Eventually my quilts morphed more into the realm of art quilting as I further explored a variety of surface design techniques.
Today I work almost exclusively with my own dyed and printed fabrics. In addition to quilts, I make functional items including dish towels and zip bags. This way my unique fabrics can be enjoyed as usable art in daily life.
